Use your neighbours, or Apps?

Why not knock on your neighbours door, offer them your surplus, start a conversation.

Or if you don’t want to do that, why not download and use an app like Olio to swap food with other neighbours who are also reducing their environmental impact! Find out more here.

Anaerobic Digestion

Our green/food waste bins in Aberystwyth travel South to Bridgend to be processed through Anaerobic Digestion (AD). This creates methane gas that is burnt to produce energy and a slurry. Although this is better than food waste going to landfill, it is an intensive process. We are encouraging businesses to utilise the food waste bin. However, our food waste hierarchy favours composting over AD, as compost is a valuable resource and we need to produce compost and grow more food in our local area.
